The Legacy basement
elm grove, wi

This basement remodel was more than just a renovation—it was a continuation of a family legacy.

Originally finished over 40 years ago by the homeowner’s father, this space served as the heart of the home—hosting decades of gatherings, celebrations, and everyday moments. It was built with pride, hard work, and intention, becoming a place where memories were made and passed down through generations.

When the next generation took ownership of the home, the goal was clear: preserve the meaning of the space while transforming it for the future.

We carefully demoed the original basement and rebuilt it with a modern, clean, and functional design—tailored for today’s lifestyle while honoring its history. The updated layout features an open-concept entertainment area, custom built-in storage, a refreshed fireplace centerpiece, a new bathroom, and thoughtfully designed finishes throughout. The exposed ceiling structure paired with recessed lighting gives the space a contemporary feel, while the warm wood accents and brick elements maintain a sense of character and continuity.

This project reflects what we value most at King Stud Carpentry:

Building spaces that don’t just look better—but live better.

Now, this basement is ready for the next chapter—where kids, grandkids, and future generations can continue creating memories in a space built to last.

The spa project

This bathroom remodel was designed as a well-earned upgrade for a truly special couple.

This family spent decades building a career centered around creativity—designing children’s toys and interactive games that brought joy to families everywhere. After years of dedication to their craft, they made the decision to retire and invest back into their own home—creating a space where they could relax, unwind, and enjoy the next chapter of life.

Their vision was simple:

Transform an outdated bathroom into a clean, comfortable, spa-like retreat.

We expanded and reconfigured the layout to open up the space, allowing for better flow and functionality. The centerpiece of the remodel is a freestanding soaking tub, positioned to take advantage of natural light and create a calming focal point. A custom walk-in shower with frameless glass, clean tile work, and integrated niches adds both functionality and a modern aesthetic.

Throughout the space, we incorporated:

  • A cohesive tile system with subtle accent detailing

  • Warm wood tones to maintain a natural, inviting feel

  • Updated lighting to enhance both ambiance and usability

  • Clean transitions between materials for a polished finish

The result is a bathroom that feels open, refined, and intentionally designed—a space that supports both daily routines and moments of relaxation.

At King Stud Carpentry, we believe the best projects aren’t just about upgrading a space—they’re about enhancing how people live in it.

Now, this family has a space that reflects the life they’ve built—and one they can enjoy for years to come.

Before and after

Premium Bathroom Remodel

Wauwatosa, WI

3 month project - 2024

On this condo complex, the original units followed a more standard, safe design approach. Toward the end of the project, the builder gave us full creative freedom on several remaining units—and that’s where everything changed.

  • Designed custom tile layouts with large-format marble-look tile

  • Incorporated handcrafted niches and accent inlays for visual depth

  • Built fully wrapped tile environments around tubs and showers

  • Added feature walls, benches, and transitions to elevate each space

These units quickly stood out from the rest—cleaner, higher-end, and far more memorable. The difference was undeniable.

A set of bathrooms that proved one thing:
when craftsmanship meets creative freedom, the outcome speaks for itself.
